The former president of the Piura Medical Federation, Arnaldo Vite Quiroga, denied the Minister of Health, César Vásquez, who said that all health facilities in Piura they are supplied. Vite indicated that, on the contrary, There is a shortage of medicines in hospitals and health centers in the Piura region.
Vite pointed out that the head of the Health portfolio is unaware of the reality that this region is going through. “The information given by the Minister (of Health) is completely false. The minister is unaware of the shortage of medicines in the region’s hospitals. He does not have the data from the regions on how the stocks are,” said Vite.
Along these lines he added that, “if he has come to Piura and the GORE (Regional Government) officials have informed him that the establishments are supplied, you have to go, as a user, as patients, and see that, in reality, there is no various medications,” he said.
The former head of the Piura Medical Federation was concerned because there are not even basic medications that are for medical care and surgical interventions. “Many times there are not even basic medications to perform surgery, for example, or to care for a patient in the ICU. They have to buy diapers, gloves, the most basic things. So, unfortunately, the information is not accurate,” he added.
Likewise, Vite questioned that they stated that the 5 million soles allocated against dengue are for an initial allocation for Piura and that the rest will be delivered gradually. Given this, he criticized that the Minsa always says the same thing, but in the end, the initial budget ends up being the only one delivered to the Piura region. “At the end of the years, there is no budget to have all the dengue brigades operational and these are the consequences. Dengue is spreading (…),” said Vite.
