“We want Castillo,” shouted the protesters who abide by the sixth day of indefinite strike in the Junín region. They waited outside the Wanka Coliseum while the Dialogue Table takes place there with the presence of five ministers and a deputy minister of State. The protesters tried to enter the compound and it was then that the police launched tear gas to repel them.

A pitched battle broke out in the surrounding streets, as protesters threw stones and used corrugated iron to defend themselves against law enforcement officers who fired tear gas canisters to drive them back. Several were injured and arrested.

“The Police are throwing stones at us, they throw (tear gas) bombs at us, look how they can do that to us? We are demanding our rights. (President) Castillo must come here,” the protesters pointed out. Inside the Wanka Coliseum, the dialogue continued to reach agreements with the leadership of the protesters.
