Through a statement to the Argentine people, the Uruguayan workers’ union spoke out against the assassination attempt that occurred on the night of Thursday, September 1, against the Argentine vice president, Cristina Fernández.
The PIT-CNT rejects the unfortunate episode that “attempts not only against an authority that emerged democratically from the polls, but is also a direct attack on democracy in that sister country.”
Solidarity with the working people
“We repudiate this fact and reaffirm our solidarity with the Argentine working people. The path of hatred and violence chosen by the right-wing in our continent destroys the societies for which workers have offered their lives throughout history”, the PIT-CNT remarks in its statement.
Likewise, the trade union center states that it is not just another fact, and the Uruguayan workers must firmly raise their voices against such an episode.
“Not pass! Cheers to the great Argentine people”, sentenced the Executive Secretariat of the PIT-CNT in its statement.
