The executive secretariat of the PIT CNT union central issued a resolution this Tuesday after meeting to analyze “the rise in inflation, the salary losses that have been accumulating, the problems that it generates for vast popular sectors that cannot ‘stop the pot’ and the announcements of the president (Lacalle Pou)».
For the PIT CNT, the proposal communicated by the Executive yesterday “absolutely insufficient for the most vulnerable sectors.” In addition, they pointed out that this “does not address the situation of thousands of unemployed people dependent on the informal economy.”
Likewise, the union center assures that these measures disregard “the collective bargaining mechanisms provided for in the law. It is a unilateral plan of the government. This tells us about the differences that we have with the government regarding the quality of democracy. The trade union movement unrestrictedly defends collective bargaining.
In turn, the resolution maintains that these measures do not mention the minimum wage or regulate anything about the current price increase. “The profits of the powerful sectors are maintained, which transfer the international prices of raw materials to the prices of the internal market, holding hostage people who cannot make ends meet,” they argued.
The document also criticizes that there is no proposal for the sectors of “micro-entrepreneurs linked to the industry; the small agricultural production and the commerce of the neighbourhoods, which also suffer in their own flesh the costs of the inflationary rise».
To conclude, the PIT CNT requested a meeting with the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) and the president. Likewise, they summoned the unions of the subsidiaries to address the issue of work, salary and famine for Monday 25.
