Although the partial official results of the Electoral Court indicate that the “Yes” option did not obtain the necessary votes to repeal 135 articles of the LUC, in any case both parties recognized the results since the difference cannot be reversed even with the final count, which will include the 36,080 votes observed.

In any case, both the Broad Front and the PIT-CNT and the Commission for Yes thanked the Uruguayans who voted for the pink ballot.

Democracy is the way

“This referendum was the result of a long process, in which we demonstrated once again that democracy is the way forward, and that we have a lot to say. Thanks to all the Uruguayan men and women who made this feat possible. Thanks to the 1,065,001 Uruguayans who made the feat possible”, expressed the Commission and the Broad Front.

For its part, the PIT-CNT stated: “We are consistent, stubbornly consistent with utopia. We believed and we believe”.

“We generated this feat, an unforgettable, epic and profoundly democratic battle. We strengthened the base to continue fighting for a better reality for our people. Hello, militancy!

Message from the PIT-CNT

“They believed, they talked, they analyzed, they discussed, they proposed, sometimes they were wrong, they did not get tired, they tried other ways and paths, other ideas, they reinforced certainties, they persuaded, they were a team, they walked, they walked a lot, they talked, they informed, they explained, they responded, they listened, hugged, laughed, rested almost nothing, slept little, got infected, quarantined, got vaccinated and went out again. They painted signs and flags and bandannas, they handed out flyers, they beautified walls, they made streets and walls and clothes and bracelets and heads and hair rollers and almost everything imaginable pinkish.

Along the way, they celebrated birthdays, said goodbye to loved ones, met loved ones, gave encouragement, shared stews, bread and hope, posted from all corners of the country wherever the sun and rain and wind and militancy took them. They took selfies, dreamed and brought us here. Because they always believed. And they are consistent. Stubbornly consistent with utopia.

It is the militants who gave an unforgettable epic democratic battle.

Thank you comrades, thank you comrades”.
