Pisco Sour Day: pisco exports grew 12% in 2025 and reinforce its role as ambassador of Peru

This Saturday marks National Day Pisco Sour with encouraging figures for the pisco industry.

In 2025, pisco exports reached US$ 9 million 503 thousand, which represents a growth of 12% compared to the previous year, consolidating its international projection.

During the official ceremony for Pisco Sour Day, the second vice president of the Exporters Association (ADEX), Carlos Schroth Parra del Riego, highlighted that the United States remained the main destination for the Peruvian distillate, concentrating 44% of the total exported, followed by Spain and the Netherlands.

“These figures confirm its projection and its opportunity to continue expanding and consolidating itself as a true ambassador of Peru abroad. Pisco sour is not only our flagship cocktail; it is a living expression of the country’s wine tradition and the sustained effort of all the actors that make up this productive chain,” he indicated.

However – he warned – that the sector has a pending agenda, among its main challenges is the need to have a Pisco Regulatory Council, in order to strengthen governance, ensure compliance with quality standards and more effectively protect the designation of origin.

Along these lines, he highlighted the need to strengthen Conapisco as a space for public-private coordination for sustainable development of the sector.

Likewise, he highlighted the role of the State in promoting the flagship drink. He mentioned initiatives such as the National Pisco Competition, promoted by the Ministry of Productionas well as the program Pisco for the World of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourismaimed at strengthening export capabilities and facilitating access to demanding markets.

Added to this is the work of Ministry of Foreign Affairswhich through its diplomatic network promotes the positioning of pisco abroad.

HISTORY AND IDENTITY

From the gastronomic sector, Luiggy Arteaga, head of the English Bar at the Country Club Lima Hotel, highlighted the symbolic value of the cocktail.

“Talking about pisco sour is talking about history, identity and Peruvian pride. Celebrating its day is paying tribute to a tradition that we continue to honor in every preparation,” he stated.

The ceremony, held at the English Bar of the Country Club Lima Hotel, was attended by the president of the ADEX Pisco Committee, Carmen Robatty de Moquillaza, the ambassador María Eugenia Llosa Bruss and the representative of Indecopi Luis Enrique Gallardo Aban.

-Pisco Sour Day was officially established by Ministerial Resolution No. 161-2004-PRODUCE, published on April 22, 2004 with the purpose of highlighting its national identity, its Peruvian origin and its potential in tourism and gastronomic promotion, both nationally and internationally.
