A pirquinero died Thursday afternoon at the Fiel Rosita mine, located in the Freirina commune, Atacama region. The death occurred due to a landslide inside the mine.
Another pirquinero -who was accompanying the deceased worker- left the mine to ask for telephone help. Subsequently, Carabineros went to the place.
The director of the Atacama National Emergency Office (Onemi), Robert munozpointed to Bio Bio Radio that “it is a landslide in a small-scale mining operation, a pirquén. They corroborate that there is a deceased person. There were two people who worked in the place”.
The Public Ministry instructed the Investigative Police (PDI) to carry out the proceedings of the case.
