The San Pedro reservoir, in the town of Tumeremo, Sifontes municipality, was the place for last Saturday, 17 people, while enjoying the holiday of Holy Week, were attacked by Piranhas, managing to cause shock in the area.
The victims, who suffered different piranha bites, were taken to the local health center by the Fire team of the Municipality and according to the latest report of the National Risk Management System, each affected person was under medical observation.
Among the victims, at least 5 children between the ages of 3 and 5, are counted in the balance of affected, as well as older adults, a fact that, according to witnesses, achieved rapid attention by the agencies.
A deceased and a missing
A Curiara -type boat, shipwrecked last Saturday between the Orinoco and Caroní rivers, leaving a balance until the date of a deceased 7 -year -old girl and an 11 -year -old boy missing.
The unfortunate infant named, Julieth Hernández (7), who was traveling with her relatives after sinking the curiara, could be located by the bodies, the same day of the event.
While his brother, Yonaiker Hernández (11), has not yet been located, so that river units of the Venezuelan Navy, since last Sunday they are deployed to find the young man.
According to information provided by the uncle of the victims, José Figueroa (46), the terrible event began when the young Yonaiker “placed standing and caused the Curiara to turn and my reaction was to give them a lifeguard for both of them, but I lost sight.”
The different security agencies involved in this fact, after 48 hours, develop search work for different coordinates of the rivers, hoping to find the body of the child.
