The leftist organizations grouped in the Piquetera Unit (UP) announced new protests “with traffic cuts on bridges and routes” for Thursday, in demand of a year-end bonus “that compensates for inflation”, food assistance for community kitchens and in protest against “all kinds of cuts in social plans,” among other demands.
The UP made the announcement via a joint press release titled: “No to the casualties, to the arbitrariness and to the cut of food in the canteens. Enough of the attacks and adjustment to the most impoverished”.
The Polo Obrero (PO) advanced Télam who the protests will start from 9 in the vicinity of the Pueyrredón Bridge, La Noria Bridge, in some sections of the West Access and on the Pan-American Highway and 202, among other points.
“The last month of the year began and the economic and social situation is increasingly critical. Millions of families will not have anything to put on their tables, because inflation keeps workers away from that possibility. The government is attacking without any embarrassment to those hardest hit by the adjustment, which deepens to follow the recipes of the IMF,” UP leaders argued.
“We have come from facing in the streets the delay in payment to thousands of colleagues from the (Program) Strengthen Work”expressed picketer referents and warned that in the course of this month “thousands of unexplained casualties” materialized.
For this reason, they warned, UP will take to the streets this Thursday “throughout the country” and will keep the cuts “until they lift the unjustly fallen programs, without explanation” and until “an inflation-compensating bond” is paid.
