Pilot dies after accident during firefight in Galvarino

On Saturday, December 31, the aviator, Luis Sevillano, died in an accident while piloting one of the four aircraft that were fighting a forest fire in the Galvarino commune, Araucanía Region.

The Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela Van Treek, expressed his condolences for the death of the pilot of Spanish origin who was driving a mini AT tanker of the SAAMA company.

The 34-year-old victim suffered the fall of the aircraft in the Quetre sector.

According to information from Onemi, the Galvarino commune is on red alert, because the flames are near populated places and the incident has been classified as “extreme behavior.”
