The balance
The conglomeration crowded the streets of the mayor’s office around the Basilica, located northeast of Mexico City. According to the mayor, no serious effects were reported, only some incidents that have already been resolved.
He detailed that 3,995 medical services were provided inside the facility and another 2,607 in the external spaces. Only in two cases was transfer to hospitals necessary: that of a pregnant woman and a person with severe dehydration.
During the night of this Friday, 78 losses were reported. However, the mayor stated that all the people have already been located and no active search is underway.
“Everyone has already returned to their groups, to their families. The truth is that (there is) a completely white balance,” he said in an interview with Millennium.
The massive amount of people left behind a sea of garbage. The mayor estimated that about 1,500 tons of solid waste remained in the streets near the Basilica. Workers from the mayor’s office and the Ministry of Works of Mexico City carry out cleaning work.
Lozano said that, in addition, 220 thousand liters of water were available at different points; 30 peregrine dogs were taken to veterinary clinics for care. Next week their owners will be searched and, if they are not found, they will be put up for adoption. He also mentioned that 15 people were arrested for “improper use of public roads.”
“We have already said it, the flannels had no place in this operation,” he declared.

They extend operations
Due to the large number of people, Operation Basilica 2025 was extended until Sunday. In other years it concludes on the night of December 12, but now it was decided to keep it all weekend due to the constant flow of pilgrims.
“The fact that the birthday of the Virgin of Guadalupe fell on Friday, spoke of the fact that they were going to come from many parts of the Republic, all weekend.”
Lozano highlighted that the number of attendees was calculated with the help of “new technologies.” They installed facial face counters in the Calzada de Guadalupe cameras.
