The Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD), with the technical and financial support of the Organization of United Nations for Food and Agriculture (FAO), designed a biosafety certification system for pig farms in the Dominican Republic.
The JAD has had the Araporcei technical supportleading entity in inspection and certification of the agri-food sector in Spain.
Before the arrival of the fafrican swine fever to the country, the JAD took the initiative, with the support of FAO, to train more than 130 pig breeders, veterinarians and technicians from the provinces of Espaillat, Santiago, La Vega, Hermanas Mirabal and Santo Domingo.
Osmar Benítez, executive president of the JAD, said that the design of this protocol allows the pig producers prevent the entry and spread of infectious agents that may affect its production.
