The municipal administration of Bucaramanga will continue to apply the peak and license plate measure in 2025 as part of its strategy to regulate vehicular traffic and promote mobility alternatives. The objective of this policy is to reduce road congestion at peak times and minimize polluting emissions generated by vehicles. The authorities have highlighted the importance of promoting the use of public transport and alternative means such as bicycles.

At the beginning of the year, the Transit Directorate announced modifications to the vehicle restriction scheme that would be implemented during the first quarter. According to these guidelines, vehicles registered in Santander municipalities would follow a daily rotation based on two license plate numbers, while those registered outside the department would operate under an odd-even scheme. These modifications were proposed as a mechanism to balance vehicle flow and avoid overloads on the city’s road network.
