The night of Monday the 19th was tragic for the Matos family. While they were all in their home, located in the Alto Kokari population center, in the Pichanaqui district, four individuals, presumably foreigners, and a Peruvian, entered and tied them up, beat them, and finally shot them in the head.

According to the survivor’s account, Wilber Matos, at approximately 7:00 p.m., he was with his family, Cirila Eñigo Rivas (mother), Zósimo Matos Carhuamaca (father), Zósimo Matute Matos (brother) and Feliciano Cahuana Castro (worker) in the house on his farm, when five subjects, apparently four Venezuelans and one Peruvian, entered and tied them up to beat them.
After the blows, Wilber managed to escape into the woods, but when he returned he found a fatal scene. “I escaped death, I broke the rope on my foot and escaped. I was in the woods for 5 minutes and returned for my family, but they had all been shot in the head, my staff, my father, my brother, were dead, my mother was dying.”he said.

In the face of the fatal scene, Wilber asked his neighbor Martín Marquina for help, so that they could take his mother to the hospital, however, she died on the way. On Tuesday the 20th, the bodies of the mother and her son arrived at the police station, for the proceedings of the case, during the course of the day they will also transfer the bodies of the father and worker.
After consulting the surviving son of the men who attacked them, he suspects that a worker who knew him through another worker, who, upon seeing the bags of coffee they were harvesting and the truck, planned the robbery. “That worker only came for two days and did not finish his contract, yesterday he returned with his accomplices to steal”said.
