Brazil faces off against Norway at Ullevaal Stadium, in Oslo (Norway), on October 7th. Three days later the Brazilian team faces Italy in Genoa.
“It’s great to play against Norway and Italy. They act in very different ways. The Norwegian team has a new coach, who is a friend of mine and was once my assistant when I led the United States. They will certainly come with a different style than what we saw at the Eurocup. Italy did not qualify for the quarterfinals of the Euro, they will probably also come with a different style. The objective is to solve our mistakes against the best teams, that’s why these clashes are so important”, declared the Swedish coach.
Among the surprises in the squad list are three players who defended Brazil in the U-20 World Cup, held in Costa Rica: Lauren, Tarciane and Yaya. “There is a difference between an athlete from the U-20 team and one from the main team. These girls come with a lot of energy, so they make mistakes. It’s normal. We want to make a long-term change. Winning a title is not a 100 meter sprint, but a marathon. We tried to bring some new changes and I believe we will have an improvement on the pitch”, said Pia Sundhage.
