Venezuelans lit a candle and demanded the full and immediate freedom of all political prisoners, during an activity called by the Command with Venezuela
This Sunday, January 11, a “global vigil” was held in different countries for the freedom of all political prisoners in Venezuela. Through social networks they shared photographs of the activity.
The vigil, organized by the Command with Venezuela and other organizations such as A World Without Gag and the Committee for the Freedom of Political Prisoners, asked everyone to light a candle for those who are still imprisoned for thinking differently, write a sign with the photo of a political prisoner or with the message “freedom for political prisoners.”
“A candle does not free a cell, but it illuminates the truth,” the call read.
From Montpellier, in France, a group of people also joined the activity to demand the freedom of the detainees.

On January 8, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced the release of a “significant number” of political prisoners. However, until this Sunday at 3:30 pm, the Foro Penal organization had a record of only 17 releases.
