PHD proposes signing of an agreement for citizen security in the DR

SANTO DOMINGO – The president of the Dominican Humanist Party (PHD), Ramón Emilio Goris, proposed this Wednesday to the government of Luis Abinader and to all sectors of society the signing of a pact for the citizen security before the risk and danger that the country is experiencing.

“I want to propose to President Abinader and the country’s political class the signing of a pact for Citizen Security, which should include all productive sectors of national life,” he said.

The president of the PHD and deputy to the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN) made the statement when pronouncing the opening and welcoming remarks at the International Forum for Citizen Security in the Dominican Republic, in which speakers from different countries participated, and in the that the Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús-Chu-Vásquez, and other personalities were present.

Goris suggested that the Catholic and Protestant churches should also participate in the signing of the pact, due to the impact they have on Dominican society.

“Exhorting all Dominicans to take advantage of this day for the country, and we can draw the best conclusions, which will be useful for our nation and others in the region,” he stressed.

The political leader and deputy explained that they convened this conference to hear the experiences of various countries on citizen security, especially for this reason that today we have the presence of the state of El Salvador, Colombia, Mexico and the United States.

“We appreciate the dedication and collaboration of the Minister of the Interior and Police and the reliable and determined willingness to participate in this event of doctors Ricardo Nieves, Servio Tulio Castaños, Víctor Benavides and the distinguished lady doctor Carolina Ramírez, who have been invited as exhibitors” he added.

Four foreign speakers participated in the forum and the formation of thirteen thematic tables to analyze the issue in a comprehensive manner “and obtain proposals for solutions, which we will communicate to the country, which we will follow up on.”

Participating in the colloquium were Carlos Vladimir Rodríguez, from Colombia; Manuel de Jesús Espino, from Mexico; Guillermo Gallegos, from El Salvador; José Antonio Gomérez, Commissioner of the New York Police, USA, and Víctor Benavides, representing the Ministry of Interior and Police, of the Dominican Republic.

Also Dr. Servio Tulio Castaños, who will act as moderator, as well as Carolina Ramírez and Ricardo Nieves.

Also present at the event were ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, deputies and senior leaders of the Dominican Humanist Party, including Julián Burgos, Amauris Fabián, Cristian Tejada, Mayra Méndez, Mayra Pichardo, Virtudes Matos, Carlos Nunez, among others.
