Check if you meet the requirements to receive the benefit of the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU) is a simple process that you can carry out through the website of the Social Welfare Institute (IPS). This state benefit, which grants a maximum amount of $206,173 per month, has certain requirements that you must meet in order to access it.
First of all, it is important to note that one of the recent changes in the requirements is that now it is evaluated that the person does not belong to the richest 10% of the country’s population. However, this is not the only condition to obtain the PGU. Next, we show you all the requirements to take into account:
- Be 65 years of age or older.
- Not being part of the richest 10% of the population.
- Accredit residence in the territory of the Republic of Chile. This implies having lived a period of not less than 20 continuous or discontinuous years since you turned 20 years of age, or having resided for at least four years in the last five years prior to filing the application.
- Have a base pension of less than $1,114,446, determined by the Reference Self-Financed Pension (PAFE) of the PGU.
To check if you meet these requirements and can qualify for the PGU benefit, you must enter the IPS website and access the corresponding query link. Once inside, you will have to provide your RUT and date of birth, and then click on the “Consult” button.
The system will process the information and show you if you are entitled to receive the Universal Guaranteed Pension, only with your RUT. If you do not meet the requirements, a message will appear stating that, according to the information obtained by the IPS, you are not on the list of potential beneficiaries.
