At 6:57 am, the Santa Catarina Military Fire Department team was called to respond to the incident in Rio do Sul (SC), where Francisco lived.
The site was isolated and firefighters carried out an investigation at the site to identify the causes of the fire. The report should be released within a few days, with a maximum deadline of 30 days.
According to the corporation, a woman had been removed from the residence by members of the public and had first, second and third degree burns on 100% of her body. She was treated, stabilized in the ambulance and taken to the emergency room at Alto Vale Regional Hospital by firefighters.
At the scene, the military found that the fire had already partially destroyed the 50 square meter residence. The team then controlled the flames and carried out the aftermath to extinguish all remaining outbreaks.
Attack
At around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (13), locksmith Francisco Wanderley Luiz, aged 59, known as Tiu França, attempted to enter the headquarters of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) with explosivesbut was approached by the site’s security guards. Video from security cameras show the man throwing the artifacts towards the Justice sculpture, which is in front of the Court building, and then lighting an explosive on his own body.
Explosive devices were also found in the house where Francisco was staying four months ago in Ceilândia, an administrative region about 30 kilometers from the center of Brasília, and in a car in the parking lot near a building attached to the Chamber of Deputies.
THE Federal Police (PF) investigates the explosions as a terrorist act and check if the keychain acted alone or received some type of support.
Francisco was a candidate for councilor for the PL in Rio do Sul, a city in Santa Catarina in Alto Vale do Itajaí, in the 2020 elections. In an interview with TV Brasilone of his brothers said that he had been obsessed with politics in recent years, participated in highway camps against the election of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and had unrecognizable behavior.
For STF minister Alexandre de Moraes, the attack was a source of stimulus for polarization policy installed in the country in recent years and the “hate office”, set up during the government of President Jair Bolsonaro. The President of the Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso also stated that the explosions events that occurred in front of the court headquarters reveal the need to hold those who undermine democracy accountable.
Moraes was chosen by Barroso to be the rapporteur of the investigation that will investigate the explosions. The choice was made based on the prevention rule, as Moraes is already in charge of investigations into the coup acts of January 8, 2023.
