PF releases elderly and mothers with children detained in coup acts

The Federal Police reported having released 599 people who were arrested yesterday (9) during the dismantling of the coup-mongering camp installed in front of the Army headquarters, in Brasília. Regarding the other prisoners, the Health Department of the Federal District reported having set up a structure of five tents for the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) at the Federal Police Academy, where the more than 1,500 prisoners were taken.

Until this morning (10), 243 consultations had been carried out, the majority of mild cases, informed the Samu. The team includes physicians, nurses and mental health professionals. There were 30 evacuations by ambulance to the Emergency Care Unit and the Sobradinho Regional Hospital, in the DF region where the police academy is located.

The detainees were taken to the location in dozens of buses, after Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), had determined to arrest of everyone who did not withdraw from the coup camps across the country.

In the decision, the magistrate mentioned seven crimes that may have been committed by Bolsonarist militants, including crimes against the democratic rule of law and national sovereignty. Moraes’ decision came hours after vandals have invaded and vandalized the Planalto Palace, the National Congress and the Federal Supreme Court, which are located at Praça dos Três Poderes, on Sunday afternoon (8).

According to the PF, academia has wide access to lawyers and public defenders. All those who are still in the place must be heard and registered. Some people are being released while others are sent to the penitentiary system of the Federal District. Until 3:35 pm today, 527 people were held in custody, the PF said in a statement.

“Everyone is receiving regular food (breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner), hydration and medical attention when necessary”, says the text.

Earlier this Tuesday (10), during the inauguration of the new director general of the PF, Andrei Rodrigues, Moraes said that all those who carried out, financed and encouraged the coup acts on Sunday would be punished to the fullest extent of the law. “Don’t think that institutions will weaken,” he said.
