An operation launched today (10) by the Federal Police investigates a criminal organization responsible for grooming and trafficking women in Brazil for sexual exploitation in Europe.
Four people were arrested during the operation and eight search and seizure warrants were executed in the capital of São Paulo and in the cities of Ubatuba (coast of São Paulo), Jundiaí (SP), São Pedro (SP) and Rio das Ostras (RJ). In addition, two arrests were made in the Spanish city of Álava, with the help of Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organization.
According to the Federal Police, criminals enticed women in Brazil, arranged for their transport abroad and, in Spain, they were subjected to threats and degrading conditions for sexual exploitation. With this crime, estimates the Federal Police, the criminals moved more than R$40 million.
The investigation was conducted in cooperation with the Spanish National Police, through Ameripol’s Specialized Center for Combating Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling.
