The Federal Police (PF) complies today (26) 16 search and seizure warrants against medical students suspected of falsifying documents to receive full scholarships at a university in the north of Rio of January. Operation False Positive fulfills warrants in six cities in Rio and Espírito Santo.
According to the PF, students signed up for the federal government’s Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) to pose as low-income people, using false documents. Thus, they were able to receive their scholarships.
In addition, according to the PF, students or their parents irregularly received Emergency Aid, created by the federal government to face the effects of the covid-19 pandemic.
Twelve people, including students and parents, have already been indicted in the course of the investigations. Among the evidence used by the PF are bank transactions, obtained through breach of secrecy, which would be incompatible with a person who would have a low income.

The warrants, issued by the 2nd Federal Court of Campos, are being carried out in the cities of Campos, Itaperuna and São Francisco de Itabapoana, in the state of Espírito Santo, in addition to the municipalities of Linhares, Cachoeiro do Itapemirim and Mimoso do Sul.
