The Federal Police (PF) fulfills 29 search and seizure warrants in ten cities in São Paulo, including the capital, in an operation carried out today (28) against embezzlement of money in the health area.
The investigations point to the use of social organizations and shell companies to overprice contracts in medical care units in the municipality of Pirajuí, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the PF, the companies had several partners who acted as oranges to divert public funds that should be used in health services. Also according to the police, inspections by the Comptroller General of the Union (CGU) indicated that the scheme may have been taken to other municipalities in São Paulo and even to other states.
The police estimate that the social organizations investigated moved BRL 1.1 billion in public funds in the state of São Paulo, of which BRL 350 million was received from the federal government.
