The Federal Police (PF) launched today (9) three joint operations within the scope of the Dark Place project. The purpose of the action is to intensify the repression of crimes of storage and sharing of child pornographic material, typified in articles 241-A and 241-B of the Children and Adolescents Statute (ECA) of Law 8069/90.
The measure has already resulted in arrests, in the act, for the possession and storage of child pornographic content of two men. A 43-year-old, who is one of the agents’ targets, and a 35-year-old. According to the PF, the arrest of the first occurred during the execution of the search and seizure warrant at the criminal’s house, in the São Marcos neighborhood, in Macaé, in the north of Rio de Janeiro. The second was also arrested in compliance with the search and seizure warrant at his house, in the Baía Formosa neighborhood, in Búzios, in the Lagos Region.
In addition to these warrants, about 20 federal police officers are on the streets to fulfill one more search and seizure. All were issued by the 1st Federal Court of São Pedro da Aldeia and the 2nd Federal Court of Campos dos Goytacazes, in residences located in the municipalities of Macaé, Búzios and Cabo Frio, in the Lagos Region.
“The precautionary measures were requested after a team of federal police officers found in the course of investigations that a particular internet provider customer had made the download and shared hundreds of files with child pornographic content,” the PF reported.
The agents seized computers, cell phones and various media. According to the PF, the penalties for crimes of possession and sharing of material with child pornography content vary from 3 to 6 years of imprisonment and a fine.
