PF and CGU investigate fraud in the purchase of textbooks in Ceará

The payment of bribes to public servants, the result of bidding fraud for the acquisition of textbooks in Beberibe (CE), between the years 2019 and 2020 is the target of Operation Livro Oculto, Federal Police this Friday (11).PF and CGU investigate fraud in the purchase of textbooks in Ceará

In the action, carried out in conjunction with the Federal Comptroller General (CGU), 10 civil servants of the agency and about 70 federal police officers fulfill 16 search and seizure warrants, issued by the 15th Federal Court. In addition to the capital Fortaleza, the searches focus on households in the Ceará municipalities of Caucaia, Maracanaú, Pindoretama, Iguatu and Jucás.

The investigations began in June 2020. The investigation identified not only the payment of bribes, but also overpricing of the auctioned goods and money laundering.

The same investigated have also acted in other bidding processes in the state and were indicted in other police investigations for similar crimes. According to the PF, they will be liable, to the extent of their responsibilities, for crimes of money laundering, fraud in bids, criminal association and active and passive corruption.
