“This time without betrayal, without fear of the truth that existed at that time”said Petro at a land delivery event in Montería, in the department of Córdoba, justifying that this peace process initiated by Uribe “was interrupted” given that “the goods have not been delivered” that the paramilitaries gave to justice.
“That peace process ended badly in my opinion,” considered the Colombian head of state.
Regarding this process, he said that the same people who applauded the paramilitaries, that is to say “senators, representatives to the Chamber, large land owners, large cocoa businessmen”were “Those who put them on a plane chained, handcuffed and took them to foreign justice, betrayed them.”

The United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC), which They were led by former paramilitary chief Salvatore Mancuso, with whom Petro met this Thursday, demobilized in 2006 and the special Justice and Peace court was created to judge this armed group and its actions in the armed conflict.
Petro also referred to the recently inaugurated Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico, whom he applauded for “She is a president who dared to tell the king of Spain that he was not welcome, perhaps this king is not to blame, but he symbolizes her and there has never been a public excuse for this crushing of entire civilizations.”

In relation to the delivery of lands, the president said: “Land for the people of Córdoba. I am not saying expropriate. I am not saying coming with armed hands to take the land from those who own it, without making it produce and handing it over to the peasantry. I am talking about an agreement, even a national agreement”.
