Petro’s harsh criticism of rich countries

Petro's harsh criticism of rich countries

The Colombian president, Gustavo Petro, harshly criticized the attitude of the rich countries that are highly CO2 emitters and assured them that they do not care that the climatic crises can be carried forward to “entire populations of the third world”.

(The Petro messages that have generated nervousness in the markets).

“I have come to the conclusion that the highly CO2 emitting countries are only interested in mitigating, but not in contributing to (climatic) adaptation that has to do with the poor people of the Earth. In other words, climate crises have led to discard entire populations of the third world”, said Petroat a reception at the Paris City Hall.

Together with the councilor of the French capital, the socialist Anne Hidalgo, the Colombian leader assured that the developed countries do not care about the poor.

“They became something disposable, each country has to save its own population.” And he added: “That barbarism of world politics is correlated with the rise of the extreme right in rich countries.”

(And the energy transition? Doubts about this government project).

The Colombian president, who is in Paris invited to the Peace Forum that is being held over the next two days, once again put on the table the need to lighten the debt of developing countries so that they can have a budget to invest in necessary adaptations to climate change.

Between severe criticism of the capitalist system, he advocated that “Humanity fight against the interest rate”something that is only possible “if humanity works together, starting with Latin America”.

(Tax and Budget, Petro’s first achievements in his presidency).

“We are approaching 1933”, Petro warned, referring to the tense interwar period that culminated in the rise of Hitler in Germany. Faced with this gloomy prospect, The Colombian head of state demanded joint action from the world’s progressive movements.

“(World) politics is more aggressive against third world countries than the machine-gunning of immigrants on the northern borders”denounced.
