The general manager in charge of PetroperuFernando de la Torre, announced this Tuesday that the inauguration of the New Talara Refinery will be on April 14 of this year and that its startup will be gradual.
He said that this modern infrastructure has not had the impact and rebound in public opinion, due to political noise, especially due to the institutional weakening of the oil company, which led to the reduction of investment by risk rating agencies.

The executive pointed out that the different units that make up this new infrastructure will start operating little by little, as technicians calibrate the equipment.
“And so they advance one by one and when they finish the process, they raise the load and do the same circuit again, when they achieve stable production within the parameters that were established at the beginning of the contracting of the project, at that moment the official delivery from the contractor to the company”, he detailed.
He added that this process should last more or less six months. “In the worst case, because there are always unpredictable difficulties, it can be nine months. At the end of this year or at the beginning of the next, full production should be at a commercial level.“, said.
your permanence
On the other hand, Fernando de la Torre, pointed out that his permanence in the general management of Petroperú is subject to the achievement of his proposed objectives, which could be one year.
“Fundamentally, it is expected to recover the investment grade, I estimate that it should not be more than one year”, he referred.
On the other hand, he commented that the contract between Petroperú and Altamesa Energy Canada for the operation of Lot 192 in Loreto must be renegotiated, because the previous board of directors of the state hydrocarbon company gave Altamesa a majority condition, among other aspects. .
