Through a statement, Petroperu reported that it has not requested nor is it subject to any bankruptcy procedure, neither ordinary nor preventive, before the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) or before any other competent authority.
The state company specified that, to date, it has not been notified of any request to initiate bankruptcy proceedings against it.
Likewise, it indicated that, in accordance with the provisions of its contracts, in the event of possible non-payment, the planned means are direct treatment or the arbitration process.
“Petroperú has not requested nor is it subject to any bankruptcy procedure, neither ordinary nor preventive,” states the document released this December 20.
Along these lines, the company stressed that any controversy or claim presented by third parties “does not automatically amount to or imply the opening of a bankruptcy process,” in accordance with the provisions of the General Law of the Bankruptcy System.
The state oil company recognized that it is going through a demanding financial situation; However, he assured that this situation has been addressed through an orderly process of operational, financial and administrative reorganization, with the aim of reestablishing its sustainability and efficiency.
In the statement, Petroperú also rejected versions that it describes as “alarmist” or “inaccurate”, warning that these could mislead the markets, workers and citizens. In this sense, he reiterated his commitment to transparency, fiscal responsibility and the public interest.
Finally, the company indicated that it will continue to inform in a timely manner, through its official channels, of any relevant fact in accordance with current regulations.
