In the early hours of Friday, February 11, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor in charge of investigating the Petroperú case, in conjunction with agents of the National Police of Peru, carried out the mega-operation ‘Resplandor 2022’ where they raided 15 homes of characters related to the Petroperú case and the contracts with the businessman Samir Abudayeh. Inside the raided houses included that of the general manager of Petroperú, Hugo Chávez Arévalo and Karelim López, who are prevented from leaving the country for eight months.
This mega operation was carried out in different districts simultaneously in the districts of Cercado de Lima, Lince and San Miguel; however, it is known that the Police have not yet arrived at the Government Palace to carry out the corresponding investigations.
For its part, the defense of the businesswoman Karelim López, Cesar Nakazakiwas present at the house and offered some statements regarding his client, who once visited Pedro Castillo and the former secretary of the Government Palace, Bruno Pacheco.

“The investigation already has some time. Until now, all the proceedings have not linked Karelim López with the purchase of biodiesel, so this proceeding surprises me tremendously. In the case of Petroperú, she has not yet been summoned, but she has a scheduled date”, assured the journalist from América TV.
Likewise, Nakazaki was consulted about an alleged meeting between López and the manager of Petroperú; However, the lawyer assured that his client has “no relationship” with him.
The crimes for which the aforementioned persons are being investigated are related to the public administration in the form of simple collusion and incompatible negotiation.

About Pedro Castillo Terrones, who is accused of collusion and influence peddling, cannot be investigated by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office while he is serving his presidential mandate. The only way to initiate the corresponding proceedings will be after his five-year term as head of state.
