The governor of Amambay, Ronald Acevedo, again expressed his questioning of the government after the death of his brother José Carlos Acevedo, assuring that “he is aimless and without ideas.” Similarly, he said he distrusted the work of the National Police in this investigation.
During a press conference held this morning, the governor of the department of Amambay spoke about his brother’s case and said that from now on they will have time to follow up on the investigative work of the authorities.
In that sense, he assured that, as things are, he does not trust the National Police. “If they didn’t do anything for my daughter’s case, I don’t think they will do anything for my brother’s case either.”
On the same point, he questioned the lack of resources in the police institution since they do not have patrol cars, weapons or technology. “What organized crime are they going to fight like this,” he said.
He questioned the Government again after the attack against the mayor of Pedro Juan Caballero and argued that a total reform of the State is needed, in addition to strengthening the institutions. “We don’t have a security policy, the government is aimless, without ideas, they don’t ask for help.”
Acevedo said that currently “there is a dead phone” with the government of Mario Abdo Benítez and he believes that his statements made days ago had apparently caused inconvenience.
The governor considers that it is still premature to talk about whether or not they will leave politics and mentioned that they are analyzing this issue with his family.
“Any Paraguayan citizen at this time fears for his life due to insecurity,” said Ronald Acevedo.
In another order of things, he stated that so far he has no information on what could have been the background of the attack against his brother.
“You have to ask the president what he has against the citizens of Amamba, what they are doing is not against me, it is against the citizens,” he said.
