Petropar rules out fuel hike until June 15

Mario Abdo Benítez, President of the Republic, met with Óscar Llamosas, Minister of Finance, Iván Haas, Deputy Minister of Economy, Denis Lichi, head of Petropar. The reason was to find solutions for the private sector’s claim about a new increase in the price of oil barrels.

At the end of the meeting, Lichi gave a press conference where he announced that one of the points discussed with the national president was the current situation of Petropar in terms of the amount of fuel available for sale.

“The fluctuation that fuel has in the international field is something that worries us a lot. There are weeks that it goes up, others that it goes down, today the purchase price is above the sale price. For this reason we will meet again”, he stated.

The fuel that is purchased arrives in the country only in 45 days.

This reduction of G. 200 from selective consumption will continue for another month. Regarding fuel prices. On June 15, this issue will be reviewed again.

When asked about the possibility of the private sector making its products more expensive again, he replied that free trade prevails. In other words, they can touch prices, but he warned that Petropar will not do so due to the stock it has. The state oil company has availability.
