Denis Lichi, president of Petróleos Paraguay (Petropar) was summoned to the board of directors of the Chamber of Senators at the request of Enrique Riera, national senator for the ANR (chartist).
The reason was that he gave explanations about a controversial bill that Petropar is carrying out. The call is 410945 and is called; “Recruitment of a specialized firm to support the management of temporary human resources”. The value of the call is G. 48,600 million (US$ 7 million).
Precisely, this Thursday, as point 8 of the agenda of the Chamber of Senators, the draft declaration “Which urges Petróleos Paraguayos (Petropar) to present to the General Directorate of Public Procurement the cancellation of the call with ID 410,945” will be studied. .

José “Pakova” Ledesma, a national senator for the PLRA, said that Lichi gave details about the need for the call and also requested a budget increase.
“He explained the situation that Petropar is experiencing today. The increase in fuel and the need to have more fuel since the available stock will only last until September. In October you will need new batches and this must be approved in advance”, he explained.
The next purchase will cover the necessary stock for the next six months (October to March 2023).
The budget increase requested by Petropar is US$ 145 million (G. 1 billion guaraníes) according to Ledesma himself. These resources will also be used in part for the hiring of 160 officials due to the proliferation of service stations of the state emblem.
It should be remembered that Petropar’s budget for this 2022 is US$ 267 million.

Salyn Buzarquis, senator for the PLRA, reported in turn that he had presented a bill for Petropar to make its cost structure transparent.
“They want us to approve more budget for the purchase of fuel. I ask him the question: is the price of fuel going to drop for people? the price of oil has already dropped between 20% and 25% at the international level”, he pointed out.
He argued that during electoral times the hiring of personnel cannot be followed. He stressed that there are laws that prohibit it.
