Petrobras’ profit in 2022 is BRL 188 billion; 77% higher than in 2021

Petrobras recorded a net profit of BRL 188.3 billion in 2022, a result 77% higher than that recorded in the previous year. The data were published late last night (1st) by the state-owned company.Petrobras' profit in 2022 is BRL 188 billion; 77% higher than in 2021

According to the company, in the fourth quarter of the year alone, profit reached R$ 43.3 billion, 38% more than that observed in the same period of the previous year.

The increase in net profit for the year, according to Petrobras, can be explained mainly by the rise in oil prices (Brent) on the international market. There were also gains with co-participation agreements in fields of transfer of rights.

EBITDA

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) reached a record volume of BRL 340.5 billion in 2022, an increase of 45% compared to 2021. Ebitda for the last quarter reached BRL 73, 1 billion.

In 2022, there was also a record in the annual payment of taxes and government participation in Brazil: R$ 279 billion. The company’s financial debt closed the year at US$ 30 billion, 16% less than in 2021.
