Petrobras announced, this Monday (17), an average reduction of 8.1% in the price of natural gas, compared to the quarter ended in April. The new values will be charged from May 1, according to a note released by the state-owned company.
According to the company, the contracts with the distributors provide for quarterly updates of the gas price and link the readjustments to fluctuations in Brent oil and the exchange rate.
Still according to the company, oil retreated 8.7% in the period and the real appreciated by 1.1% against the dollar. The portion referring to the transport of gas is updated annually in the months of May and, this year, it will be readjusted by 0.2%, according to the variation of the IGP-M.
With the readjustment announced this Monday, the gas sold by Petrobras to distributors accumulates a reduction of 19% in the year, said Petrobras.
“Petrobras emphasizes that the final price of natural gas to the consumer is not determined only by the Company’s selling price, but also by the supply portfolio of each distributor, as well as by its margins (and, in the case of CNG – Natural Gas Vehicular , from retail outlets) and federal and state taxes. In addition, consumer tariffs are approved by state regulatory agencies, according to specific legislation and regulation”, informs the state-owned company.
According to Petrobras, the natural gas price update announced on Monday does not affect cooking gas (LPG), bottled or sold in bulk.
