Petrobras is now holding an Extraordinary General Meeting (AGE) of shareholders in the afternoon to elect eight members of the Board of Directors. In addition to the current president of the state-owned company, Caio Paes de Andrade, the executive secretary of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, Jônathas Assunção Salvador Nery de Castro, and the attorney general of the National Treasury, Ricardo Soriano de Alencar, are confirmed on the list.
The names of Castro and Alencar, nominated by the majority shareholder, that is, the Union, were excluded from the list last July, because the company’s Eligibility Committee (Celeg) indicated the existence of a conflict of interest for them to occupy a seat on the collegiate, while holding office in the federal government.
However, on the 11th and 15th of this month, Petrobras received official letters from the Ministries of Economy and Mines and Energy, respectively, which ratified the appointment, by the controlling shareholder, of Alencar e Castro to the company’s Board of Directors, to be submitted to the AGE convened for this Friday.
The assembly will be onlinethrough a digital platform, as established in the call notice and manual for participation in the shareholders’ meeting, on July 19th.
The list to integrate the Petrobras Board was released by the Ministry of Mines and Energy on June 9, composed by Caio Mario Paes de Andrade (current president of the company), Gileno Gurjão Barreto (appointed to chair the Board of Directors), Ricardo Soriano de Alencar, Edison Antonio Costa Britto Garcia, Jonathas Assunção Salvador Nery de Castro, Ieda Aparecida de Moura Gagni, José João Abdala Filho, Marcelo Gasparino da Silva, Ruy Flaks Schneider and Márcio Andrade Weber.
Petrobras informed, through the press office, that the result of the meeting should be released today, after the financial market closes.
