Petrobras announces 7.1% increase in the price of aviation kerosene

Petrobras announced this Thursday (1st) an average increase of 7.1% in the price of aviation kerosene (QAV) charged for sale to distributors. This is the second consecutive increase in the price of the fuel, the most demanded in air transport. It is used in airplanes and helicopters equipped with turbine engines. At the beginning of July there was a 3.2% adjustment.Petrobras announces 7.1% increase in the price of aviation kerosene

According to a note released by Petrobras, the accumulated increase for the year is 0.8%, which represents an average increase of R$0.03 per liter compared to the price in December 2023. “In the comparison since December 2022, there was an accumulated reduction of 18.9%, which is equivalent to a decrease of R$0.96/liter”, says the state-owned company.

Fuel price updates usually occur monthly. The new prices have already come into effect at refineries.

Petrobras sells aviation kerosene only to distributors. Aircraft fueling services at airports are the responsibility of distributors and resellers. Therefore, the profits of these companies and other costs, such as those involving transportation and logistics, influence the final price paid by air transport companies and other consumers.

The state-owned company emphasizes that it does not hold a monopoly on the marketing of the product and that the Brazilian market is open to free competition. “There are no legal, regulatory or logistical restrictions preventing other companies from acting as producers or importers of QAV,” says the state-owned company.
