President Petro’s statements come after the president of the Senate, Efraín Cepeda, pointed out the need to cut the amount planned for next year.
Cepeda also mentioned that if the scenario arises in which the General Budget of the Nation (PNG) is adopted via decreeit would only be showing the low capacity of the Government to reach an agreement.

It is worth remembering that last Tuesday, September 24, the economic commissions of Congress (the third and fourth of the Senate and the third and fourth of the House) They did not reach an agreement on the amount of the PGN for 2025.
Although it had been assured that the Legislature had until Wednesday, September 25, to reach an agreement on the amount and approve the Budget project in the first debate, experts have stated that Congress would still have time until October 20 to an approval.
If an agreement is not reached, The Government would have to draw up the National Budget by decree. The amount proposed by the Executive, and with which the project was filed before the Legislature, is $523 billion, of which $12 billion would come from the tax reform.
