1. Fight against hunger and poverty

Petro highlighted that 2.5 million people escaped hunger and 1.6 million overcame monetary poverty in 2023. In addition, 1.1 million Colombians left extreme poverty, and the president expressed his optimism about doubling these figures in 2024.

2. Economic growth

The president indicated that the country grew 2.9% in 2023, driven by a 9% increase in agricultural production and greater industrial activity. “This is the engine of the economy that generates real wealth,” Indian.

The president noted that the minimum wage, including transportation subsidies, will reach 1,623,500 pesos, an increase of 11%.

11. Security

The president reported a 1.6% decrease in homicides and reductions in all crimes except extortion.
