Despite the differences and reservations of the Minister of Education Alejandro Gaviria regarding the health reform presented by the Government he represents, the official stated that he will not leave the cabinet.

This was assured to EL TIEMPO this Tuesday, one day after the initiative was filed before the congress.
According to Gaviria, “the president heard us a lot, but this was not translated into the text” which was finally delivered.
“I am not going to resign. I have a responsibility and I am grateful to President Petro and I will continue contributing to help build a better society”Gaviria said.

He added that despite having given his point of view, in the end the vision of Minister Carolina Corcho prevailed in the project.
Gaviria warned, yes, that in Congress the reform should be looked at carefully and with the utmost attention “because there is a lot at stake”, but he assured that it will be “respectful and assertive” in your discussion.
“The fans assume from the outset that those who do not share their dogmas are sold. They do not question ideas, they are suspicious of intentions. Democracy needs a healthy controversy, a debate based on knowledge and adherence to the facts.He said.

EL TIEMPO learned that, in sources close to the finance ministers, José Antonio Ocampo; Agriculture, Cecilia López; and the director of Planning, Jorge Iván González, there is also concern about what could happen to the system if the text is approved as it was. Not only because what has been advanced in the last 30 years could be lost, but also because of the doubts that it would have, if approved, towards the future due to its financing.
