The World Economic Forum (Davos) is an international non-governmental organization based in Cologne, which meets annually in Davos (Switzerland), and is known above all for its annual meeting in this locality.

There the main business leaders meet, political leaders as well as select journalists and intellectuals, in order to analyze the most pressing problems facing the world and, among them, health and the environment since 1971.
For this year the dates chosen to carry out this meeting were from January 16 to 20. During the first days, they have played political topics, economic, social and environmental. On the latter, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro.

Sustainability according to Petro
Gustavo Petro raised the importance of discussing in spaces such as the world economic forum the articulation of climate agreements with the World Trade Organization (WTO)with the objective that the countries that have the capacity can increase the production of food that will reduce hunger.

“Food production is today, as we all know, absolutely mandatory in our countries, where we have the capacity to produce it to reduce hunger, but a series of trade agreements prevent us from producing certain foods such as corn, such as soybeans.”, assured the head of state.
He also highlighted the country’s interest in once again producing strategic foods such as corn and soy to feed the colombian people.

For it, the mandatary explained that “the rules that, through trade agreements and that have to do with the World Trade Organization, prevent this development, have to vary. I said it here: climate agreements are above the treaties of the World Trade Organization”.
