Colombian President Gustavo Petro said it’s “absolutely convinced“to be able to do the agrarian reform, one of the points to develop in the peace agreement signed in 2016 between the Colombian government and the extinct FARC guerrilla.

“If Fedegán keeps his word and we have the resources in the budget to buy the land now, and that this entire government dedicates itself to that over the years, we can carry out an agrarian reform“, said the head of state in the town of Mosquera (center), on Tuesday, February 21, when presenting a program for the peasant to have access to the services offered by the National Learning Service SENA).
The Colombian Government and the Colombian Federation of Cattlemen (Fedegán) signed, in October 2022, an agreement for the sale of three million hectares of land which will be earmarked for agrarian reform.

The ranchers are some of the largest owners of large tracts of land in Colombia and they assure that they have never been against the peasant’s right to land.
In the presentation of Camp SENA, President Petro assured that the delivery of land to the peasants means complying with the first point of the peace agreement with the Farc.

“The first point of the peace agreement with the Farc says that 3 million hectares of land will be handed over to peasants, and that 7 million hectares will be titled there, where the peasants are.“, he indicated.

In the same way, the president affirmed that the development of this agreement is a state commitment to peace.
“From that bad, aberrant and irrational distribution of the land is that we have had violence, not only by the FARC, but since before“, he added.

He also referred to the need to heweigh clean energy and community connectivity to the rural areas of the country by the hand of the Seine, the school of arts and crafts of the country.
