As the president announced, the intention of his request is to inquire about the actions of his loved ones and determine possible liabilities.
Although he is not direct in those responsibilities of which he speaks, the investigation request would be related to the information that was “rumor in public opinion” about approaches of their relatives not approved by the Government with organizations outside the law in the framework of complete peace.

“The only official who has the endorsement of the Government to have contact with organizations outside the law, with the sole objective of seeking peace, is the High Commissioner for Peace, Danilo Rueda.Petro said.

He said he has “the responsibility to be loyal” with the votes he received to be president and that his commitment to the country is to achieve peace.
Therefore, he issued a warning: “Whoever wants to interfere in the purpose of achieving peace, or take personal advantage of this, has no place in the Government, even if they are members of my family“.
Finally, he was confident that his son and brother will be able to prove his innocence, although he clarified that will respect the conclusions reached by justice.

“My government will not provide benefits to criminals in exchange for bribes (…) We are in the process of building legal mechanisms so that groups outside the law can avail themselves of justice, make reparation to the victims and stop violence in the territories.
