Gustav Petro, President-elect of Colombia, appointed two new women, within his ministerial cabinet, in portfolios related to the economy: Work and Mines and Energy.

On the one hand, in the Ministry of Labor, Petro appointed Gloria Ines Ramirez, whom he described as “a defender of human rights and the demands of workers”.
“She has been a woman who has fought for women’s rights and gender equity“, he added.

in the portfolio of Mines and Energy, the appointment rests with Irene Velez.
These figures are the largest turnover of resources in the sector in at least the last decade.

According to the president himself, Vélez is philosopher from the National University and has a Ph.D. in Political Geography from Copenhagen.
