The president of the Central Bank (BCRA), Miguel Ángel Pesce, affirmed this Sunday that Argentina currently exports almost 90,000 million dollars, acknowledged that energy imports reached 11,000 million dollars, which will be reversed “with the works of the gas pipeline ” and considered that foreign sales can increase.
“We have achieved exchange rate stability as of July and we have to achieve a bridge until the exports of energy, mining and other products allow us to have a greater flow of foreign exchange. We are in a transition,” emphasized Pesce, in statements to Radio 10.
The official assured that “Argentina can export more” if it had “a financial bridge and build a future.”
Pesce indicated that the so-called “tourist dollar is generating relief for the BCRA since the drop in tourism spending abroad has been strong, exceeding 100 million dollars per month”.
Regarding the change in spending by tourists entering the country, he pointed out that “The cards have some system issues to work out to offer you a better exchange rate and hopefully this week it can be fixed.”
“We had an inflation peak in July of over 7% and now it is reaching 6% and we hope that inflation will gradually reduce and reach 60% or less for next year,” highlighted.
The president of the BCRA stressed that one of the priorities is “to avoid a sudden devaluation with the consequences that this has on real wages and pensions.”
