Peruvians will allocate up to 10% of AFP and CTS funds for purchases related to the World Cup

Peruvians will allocate up to 10% of AFP and CTS funds for purchases related to the World Cup

The estimated that consumption in the months of June and July will be encouraged, since Peruvians will make purchases related to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar taking advantage of the release of the CTS, withdrawal of AFP of up to 4 UIT and bonuses for National Holidays.

“Definitely, in these months there will be an increase in consumption, since it is estimated that Peruvians could have, on average, between 5% and 10% of these funds, which will be used to purchase shirts, televisions, accessories and merchandising. such as caps, key chains, pennants, etc.”specified the president of the CCL’s Small Business Association (COPE), Rodolfo Ojeda.

He noted that, on the subject of shirts, prices can fluctuate between S/ 20 to S/ 100 considering the quality and finish of the garment, and that there will be a greater preference for those shirts with the name or badge of their favorite team.

He argued that the playoff games and the possibility of going to the World Cup in Qatar will always generate a positive impact on the economy, making businesses more dynamic.

In that sense, he projected that this international event could generate an economic movement close to US$ 490 million, favoring the food, sports clothing, and alcoholic beverages sectors, among others.

“The Peruvian people are passionate about soccer and that aligns us with positivism and enthusiasm that – despite the current problems – makes us think optimistically. This would make Peru grow one point in GDP (US$ 1,000 million)”stated Rodolfo Ojeda.

Meanwhile, if they qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, Ojeda said that business sales could increase between 20% and 25%, compared to the last World Cup in Russia 2018.

Likewise, this event would boost tourism, since the purchase of air tickets to Qatar could add up to a value of US$ 5 million, a not insignificant figure considering that it is not a usual destination.

In this sense, he considered that economic activities such as commerce, services and manufacturing will have a better performance, generating business opportunities for micro and small entrepreneurs.

“In this difficult situation it is important that companies and businesses, large and small, take advantage of promoting themselves because optimism makes the economy more dynamic and private consumption is encouraged”Ojeda noted.
