Peruvians for Peace Collective calls for dialogue and cessation of violence

Grouped in the different religious organizations, agricultural producers, labor unions, professional associations, regional chambers, micro and small business organizations, and business associations, among others, urged citizens to seek dialogue and put aside the violence that is registered in different parts of the country.

“We call for an end to the violence that has put dozens of families in mourning and is spreading fear and insecurity in various regions of the country. From each of our areas and sectors, we are aware that Peru requires changes and improvements so that all citizens can enjoy well-being and prosperity. For this reason, we reiterate our desire for dialogue and cooperation to reach agreements and contribute with the reforms that we require to build a Peru with equal opportunities for all,” they said in a statement.

Along these lines, they invoked the different powers of the State: Executive, and Judicial, so that through their actions the rule of law, institutionality and democracy prevail, and they extended the request to the new regional and municipal authorities who, they indicated, should contribute to generating platforms for dialogue.

“We call on the protesting population to respect public order and the rights of others. Human rights are for all Peruvians equally. (…) Let’s look for a real and equitable development that we will not achieve with confrontations, looting, destruction, abuse of power, corruption, extortion and other scourges that are destroying our society” they added.

The members of the Peruvians for Peace collective are: the National Evangelical Council of Peru, the Association of Agrarian Producers’ Unions of Peru (AGAP), the Federation of Civil Construction Workers of the Central de Trabajadores del Perú (CTP), the National Council of Deans of Professional Associations of Peru, Association Pyme Peru, Chamber of Tourism of Cusco and Chamber of Commerce of Puno.

Also the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy, the National Youth Network of Peru (RENAJUV) and the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep).
