The Peruvian Foreign Ministry has reported that Peruvians abroad, who have been elected board members for the Elections 2026may also present blemishes.
As recalled, on Thursday, January 29, the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) held the draw to select the more than 800 thousand citizens who will guard the elections.
Among those chosen, there are hundreds of compatriots who live abroad and who must register the votes of the rest of their compatriots through the different consulates around the world.
However, all those who believe they have an impediment to taking office as a board member abroad may present their objections to the consular offices of the Foreign Ministry.
According to the Organic Electoral Law (LOE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks the transparency and integrity of the Elections 2026where president, congressmen and deputies will be elected.
In accordance with the LOE, the citizen has three (3) business days, counted from the publication of the provisional list, to present his or her objection. That is, until Thursday, February 5.
How to present a qualification for a board member abroad?
The application is submitted in person or through an e-mail to the consular office, by means of a letter addressed to the consul general, attaching a copy of the DNI and corresponding evidence.
The consul general will resolve the appeal within the day following receipt and will communicate the decision to the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE). A decision that is unappealable.
It is worth highlighting that the Peruvians chosen as board members Those who fulfill their duty will receive a payment of S/165.00; while, those who do not appear, a fine of S/275.
