Peruvian exports exceeded US$60,000 million

The exports Peruvian exports totaled US$60,168 million between January and October of this year, which represented a growth of 14.5% when compared to the same period in 2023, revealed the Association of Exporters (ADEX).

Among the areas that stood out in this period are agroindustry, steel metallurgy and metalworking. However, the president of the union, Julio Pérez, stated that there is concern about the decline in five sectors, including textiles, fishing for direct human consumption, non-metallic mining, wood, and hydrocarbons.

“There are four (sectors) with added value that have not yet recovered, that is, the most intensive in labor. This result tells us that we must influence joint work with the public sector in order to promote private investment, identify and support new engines that add to the recovery of Peru and reach more markets,” he explained.

ADEX explained that the exports traditional activities amounted to US$43,982 million, which reflected an increase of 16.45, with the mining, primary fishing and agricultural sectors being the ones with the best performance in the 10 months of the year.

The main buyers of these shipments were China, India, Canada, Japan, the United States, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Brazil and Chile.

Meanwhile, non-traditional exports registered an increase of 9.7%. Here the main destination was the United States with a participation of 30.1%. Other destinations that completed the top 10 were the Netherlands, Chile, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, China, and the United Kingdom.
