Peruvian Episcopal Conference calls for conditions of "true dialogue" to be generated in the regions

Through an open letter addressed to the congressmen of the Republic, the He demanded that the conditions be generated “for a true binding dialogue in the regions at the national level in order to address the priority political and social agendas.”

In its pronouncement, the institution headed by Monsignor Miguel Cabrejos implicitly questions the congressmen, reminding them that they are representatives of the entire population.

“The brothers from all over Peru and your brothers from all over Peru, whose representatives you are in Congress, question you. Do they know you? Have you heard their demands? Peruvians need to be heard in their just social demands, but at the same time they need peace that allows them to continue working to survive. Do not turn your back on them and listen to the cry of all the Peruvian people”, indicates the Conference.

In addition, he warned that it is urgent that a decision be made on the advancement of elections to safeguard democratic institutions.

“The sovereign people have the right to decide on the fate of our country through transparent and fair elections to renew the Executive and Legislative powers,” he added.
